My mom was supposed to have her uber-expensive, super-special PET scan yesterday and learn how effective her chemo has been, but the hospital screwed it up. Right before she left on Tuesday morning, the hospital called her and told her that while the PET techs were at the hospital, the mobile PET unit was no where to be found - they'd lost it. So, the hospital somehow lost the mobile PET unit, which is worth over 3 million dollars. How you manage to lose something that large and that expensive is beyond me, but they did.
Anyways, by the time they found the machine they had to reschedule all of their morning appointments. So, needless to say my mom didn't get her $1,000 drink yesterday, but she should be getting it on New Year's Eve (January 31st) - if they can manage to keep an eye on the PET scan.
The day wasn't a complete loss though because my mom, my husband, and I went up to see the Body Worlds exhibit at The Leonardo. The exhibit was really cool and very informational. Plus, my mom got to see where her spleen is located, which was fun. Also, they had a rooster at the exhibit that had everything dissolved but his blood vessels and my mom was even afraid of him, so that was funny. But, the exhibit overall was really cool.
So, the end of the day was much better than the beginning for my mom, aside from the rooster.
